Dr Roxanne de Silva

MBChB (UCT), FC Derm (SA), MMed Derm cum laude (UCT)

Dr de Silva is a Namibian born specialist dermatologist. She completed her undergraduate medical degree (MBChB) at the University of Cape Town, South Africa in 2008. During her training, she served as the medical students’ class representative as well as the head of the Students’ Health and Welfare Centres Organisation (SHAWCO) Masiphumelela Clinic. She was also a member of the Surgical Society committee. She received various academic scholarships and accolades including being invited to be a member of the Golden Key Honours Society and being awarded the Sydney Stein class prize for the top candidate in dermatology in her final year.

After completing her two-year internship at the Windhoek Central and Katutura State Hospital Complex, she worked in the department of dermatology for two years before specialising in dermatology at the University of Cape Town. During this time, Dr de Silva presented at the South African Dermatology Congresses; she served as an executive committee member of the Supernumerary Registrars Society and was actively involved in training of medical students and nurses in dermatology. Part of this training included running regular dermatology outreach clinics around the Western Cape. She has also completed various short courses and workshops in aesthetics, offered by the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa.

Dr de Silva obtained her Masters in Dermatology with distinction (MMed Derm cum laude) and is also a Dermatology Fellow of the College of Medicines South Africa. Subsequently, she started private practice as a specialist dermatologist in Cape Town in 2017 before returning to Namibia to establish the Skin Institute in 2018.
